Shipment Protection

Protect your outbound shipments up to $5,000 against loss, damage, and theft.

Overview

Shipyu offers shipment protection (insurance) on outbound shipments. Coverage protects against loss, damage, and theft up to your declared value.

  • On Shipyu labels — toggle protection during label purchase. Premium is calculated and charged with the label.
  • On outbound shipments — add protection from the shipment detail drawer, as long as the package hasn't been scanned into the carrier network yet.

Pricing

Protection is priced at 1.25% of the declared value, with the following minimums:

Tip

Insurance is only available for outbound shipments. Inbound tracking numbers are not eligible for protection.

Eligibility

Protection can only be added to outbound shipments before they enter the carrier network:

  • Eligible — outbound shipment with status Pre-Shipment or Unknown with no physical scan events.
  • Always eligible — Shipyu-purchased labels are eligible regardless of status (as long as there's no existing active insurance).
  • Not eligible — inbound shipments, or packages already In Transit, Out for Delivery, Delivered, or with carrier scan events.

Filing Claims

If a protected shipment is lost, damaged, or stolen, file a claim directly from your dashboard:

  1. Click File a Claim and select the affected shipment from your protected packages.

  2. Choose the claim type: Lost, Damaged, or Theft.

  3. Enter the claim amount (up to your insured value), a description of the issue, and your contact information.

  4. Submit — the claim is filed with the insurance provider and you can track its status from your dashboard.
