USPS Tracking
Monitor USPS Shipments with Real-Time Alerts
Shipyu provides centralized USPS tracking for operations teams that manage inbound and outbound shipments at scale. The platform ingests USPS tracking events in real time, detects status changes, and alerts your team when a shipment requires attention.
Supports UPS, USPS, FedEx, and DHL.
What Shipyu Provides for USPS Tracking
Shipyu integrates with USPS tracking APIs to monitor Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, First-Class Package, and Parcel Select shipments.
The system continuously monitors USPS scan events and updates shipment status as new data becomes available. When USPS tracking shows unusual behavior — such as prolonged gaps between scans or a failed delivery attempt — Shipyu highlights the shipment for review.
Operations teams use Shipyu to monitor hundreds of USPS shipments in one dashboard, detect stalled or delayed packages, receive alerts for delivery exceptions, and reduce manual status checks across carrier websites.
Shipyu turns USPS tracking data into operational visibility.
How USPS Tracking Works
USPS assigns a unique tracking number to each shipment. The carrier scans the package at key facilities during transit. Each scan generates a tracking event that updates the shipment status.
Common USPS tracking statuses include:
- In Transit — The package is moving through the USPS network. - Out for Delivery — The package is on a delivery vehicle and scheduled for delivery today. - Delivered — USPS has completed delivery. - Exception — A delivery issue has occurred, such as an address problem or failed attempt.
Unlike consumer tracking tools, Shipyu monitors these status changes continuously and surfaces exceptions automatically.
Common USPS Tracking Issues
"Label Created, Not Yet in System" — This status means USPS has received electronic shipment data but has not yet scanned the package physically. Scan activity usually begins once USPS accepts the shipment.
Tracking Stuck in Transit — USPS tracking may pause between facilities, especially for First-Class or Parcel Select shipments. If a shipment shows no updates for an extended period, Shipyu flags it as potentially stale.
Delivered but Not Received — Occasionally USPS marks a package as delivered before final handoff. Shipyu records the delivery event and provides a timestamp for investigation.
USPS Tracking Number Format
Most USPS tracking numbers contain 20–22 digits and appear in shipping confirmations or on printed labels
