Comparisons

How Shipyu compares

Shipyu is not the right choice for every team, and these pages say so where it is true. Each comparison quotes the other product's own published pricing, cites every figure, is dated, and marks the rows where they win.

Shipyu charges $0.020 per tracker, falling to $0.015 at volume, with no platform fee, no seats, and no monthly quota — so 1,000 shipments cost $20.00 and 3,000 cost $60.00. Test mode is free forever and needs no card, so you can verify an integration end to end before spending anything.

Choosing a tracking API

What does Shipyu cost compared to other tracking APIs?

Shipyu charges $0.020 per tracker created, falling to $0.015 at volume across six graduated brackets, with no platform fee, no seat licences, and no monthly quota. Most tracking products bill a monthly subscription with an included shipment quota and overage above it, which means paying for capacity in quiet months and paying a premium at peak. Reads, webhook deliveries, and all test-mode calls are free.

How do you decide which tracking API to use?

Check four things in order. First, whether the carriers you actually ship with are covered. Second, whether the API is available on a plan you would realistically buy — several products put API and webhook access behind an upper subscription tier. Third, whether the operational contract is published: retry schedule, rate limits, and data retention you can design against. Fourth, whether you can evaluate it in code for free before committing.

When is Shipyu the wrong choice?

When you want a finished post-purchase experience rather than a data layer. Shipyu does not provide branded tracking pages, returns management, customer email or SMS notifications, or storefront apps — if you need those working this week, a full suite will serve you better. Shipyu also covers 100+ carriers rather than the 1,000+ some competitors publish, so unusual regional or postal carriers are worth confirming first, and we hold no third-party security certification.

Every comparison is written to be checkable: competitor figures are quoted from their own pages and dated, and each page is also served as plain markdown for AI agents. Think we have got something wrong about another product? Tell us and we will correct it. Overage rates quoted on these pages — $0.08 and $0.12 per extra shipment — are read from the vendor's published pricing.
